Idell (Simmons) Harrison

Idell Harrison, 78, of Cottonwood died April 18. She was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Burtsell, Ark., the daughter of Albert "Haskell" Simmons and Effie Dickens Simmons.

She graduated from McNary, Arizona, schools. Mrs. Harrison was manager of Oovah Smoke Shop.

She started the Headstart program for the Ute Mountain tribe.

She also was invited to the White House to have dinner with the President.

Her hobbies included golf, playing cards, cooking, going on cruises, travel and adored her family and friends.

Her husband of 49 years, Beve, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Harrison is survived by a son, John Harrison (Kathy) of Orange, Calif.; a daughter Vicki McCormick of Cottonwood; a sister Irene Chvilicek of Overton, Nev.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 23 in the Westcott Funeral Home at 2 p.m.
