Death Claims John Welch

Word has been received of the death of John W. Welch, who passed away at his Phoenix home last night.

He is survived by his son, John W. Welch, Jr., a daughter, Mrs. T. V. Crone; and four grandchildren, all of Phoenix.

Services will be conducted at the Ruffner Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock by Dr. Charles Franklin Parker of the First Congressional Church of Prescott. Interment will follow in the family plot at the Mountain View Cemetery, Prescott.

Mr. Welch, a member of the carpenter's union in Phoenix, was formerly a long-time mule teamster, hauling freight out of Prescott. Very few of these old-time freighters whose lifetimes' embraced one of the most colorful periods in the West's history are left.

Mr. Welch was a long-time resident of Prescott, having lived in Phoenix only the past few years. He leaves behind him a host of friends and much respect.
