Jo Ellen Bingham

On Feb. 5, 2009, Jo Ellen Ward Bingham continued on her journey ahead of her loved ones. She was born Nov. 4, 1942, in Freeport, Texas.

Jo Ellen grew up in Arizona, arriving in Page in 1959 and becoming Page High School's first Homecoming Queen the same year. She married Bob Bingham in 1962 and their first child, Sara, was born that same year, followed by David in 1965 and Luke in 1967. Known for her creative, artistic, and witty nature, Jo Ellen is loved by everyone who knew her.

Jo Ellen was preceded in death by her father, Byron "Mack" Ward, and a brother, David Mack. She is survived by her mother, Wanda Ward; her partner, Michael Cosentino of Cottonwood; her children Sara (Rob) Peterson and their children Allison and Mitchell; David (Judie Scalise); and Luke (Penny Irvine) and their children Marcus, Brady, and Sage; and her siblings Steven (Gay Ann) and their children, Joshua and Heather; Philip (Michele) and their children Jenny Sebree and Joseph Koglin; and Jane. Surviving Jo Ellen also are her uncle Wayne, numerous cousins, and countless friends.

Services were held and she was interred at Page Cemetery on Feb. 14, 2009 to remain the family's valentine. In lieu of flowers, the family requests your help in thanking the Verde Valley Community Hospice for their warm and tireless assistance, with a gift of a contribution to help the hospice continue their services for others in need. On February 5, 2009 in Cottonwood, Arizona, Jo Ellen Ward Bingham continued on her journey ahead of her loved ones. Born November 4, 1942, in Freeport, Texas, Jo Ellen grew up in Arizona, arriving in Page in 1959, becoming Page High School's 1st Homecoming Queen that same year. She married Bob Bingham in 1962 and their first child, Sara, was born that same year, followed by David in 1965 and Luke in 1967. Known for her creative, artistic, and witty nature, Jo Ellen is loved by everyone who knew her. Jo Ellen moved to the Verde Valley in 1999.

An additional celebration of Jo's life was held in Cottonwood on Friday, Feb. 20, at 4 p.m. at her home, 1130 South Eighth Street.

Jo taught English in Camp Verde schools, Yavapai College and in Page. She loved words and used them well. She served on the Page City Council and the Page Public Schools Governing Board.
