Imogene Lashelle Doris (LaVoy) McInelly went home to be with the Lord April 8, 2015, in Scottsdale, surrounded by family. She was born Oct. 31, 1950, in Grants Pass, Ore., to Preston and Ruth Lavoy, the 10th of 11 children.

Her family moved around a lot when she was little finally settling in Lakeside in 1962. She graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1968.

She married Vernal Don McInelly Aug, 9, 1969, and moved to Snowflake, where they made their home for 46 years. She was a stay-at-home mom raising three children until they were all in school. She went to work for the Snowflake School District and loved her job working with children.

As a Christian and active member of Valley View Southern Baptist Church she worked with young children and in the nursery for many years. She had a radiant smile that was contagious always an uplifting spirit to everyone she met. Her favorite saying was “God is good, all the time!”

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Vernal Don McInelly; three children, Sheldon (Melody), Sherri (Mike) McCleve and Rob (Heather); and seven grandchildren, five brothers and sisters.

The family would like to extend deep appreciation to the cancer nursing staff and doctors at Desert Banner Hospital and nurses at Hospice of the Valley, as well as friends and neighbors for their care, prayers and support.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at Valley View Southern Baptist Church in Snowflake and at 11 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Shadow Mountain Mobile Home Park, 5780 E. McKellips Road, Scottsdale.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to ovarian cancer research.
