Trixie T. Begay entered into rest April 15, 2015, surrounded by loved ones in Show Low. She was born Nov. 25, 1940, to the great medicine man of WMAT, Renzie and Hilda Gordon.

Trixie lived in Whiteriver all of her life. She was the first-born daughter to the first medicine man on the WMAT. She loved crocheting and sewing. Trixie loved her grandkids and enjoyed being with them every day.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Begay; daughters Vicky Ethelbah, Jessie Penn, Ramona Henry and Latisya Begay; sister Virginia Montero; brother Buster Gordon; and sons in-law Royce Ethelbah, Jai Henry and Philbert Tessay.

Trixie was preceded in death by her parents, Renzie and Hilda Gordon, daughter Patricia “Queenie” Brooks, sisters Marie Peaches and Bevlah Hawkins; brothers Roscoe Gordon, Victor Gordon, Whipple Gordon and Kenzie Gordon.

A wake was held April 23 at her residence in South Side. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at St. Francis Church.

Silver Creek Mortuary of Whiteriver handled arrangements.
