Melvin attended and graduated from the Gilbert School District. Professionally, he worked as a caregiver. Melvin found his enjoyment in music. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Earl D. Bonds. He leaves behind his brother, Edward Bonds, wife, Gudrun of Cornville; his sisters, Barbara Janice Brant of New Brunfels, Texas, and Sharron A. Fastenau of Thatcher, Arizona. No services are planned.
