| The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/29/2015 Lloyd Wayne Davis, 86, died May 21, 2015, at his home in St. Johns. He was born Oct. 21, 1928, to Mark and Ellen Davis in St. Johns. Wayne married Esther Farr Davis April 15, 1948, in the Mesa Temple. He is the father of 10 children, grandpa to many more (52 total), and great-grandpa to even more than that (78 and counting). He was a famous photographer having studied under Ansel Adams. He contracted with Arizona Highways magazine (1948-86) and had hundreds of his photos featured. One of his photos was displayed in the New York World’s Fair in 1964. He won the Young Photographers contest for Life Magazine in 1951. He has a photo featured in the World Book Encyclopedia and was awarded the Distinguished Eastman Kodak Award. Wayne gave many years of dedicated service to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served as a bishop, five missions, four of them with his wife, and assignments in New Zealand, Fiji, Australia, Antigua, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Tennessee and Tahiti. He was a lover of the sun, a gardener, joke teller, and family historian. “He left us for a better place last week. We will miss his laughter and his stories.” He is survived by his wife, Esther Farr Davis; children Kirk (Kathi) Davis, Ellen (Richie) Bast, Scott (Lorri) Davis, Gary (Kathleen) Davis, Christine (Spence) Wilhelm, Linda (D.) Evans, Carolyn (Paul) Blad, Craig (Jeanette) Davis, Julie (Mike) Burke and Jann (James) Gartside; brother Dale Davis; and sisters Della Gibbons and LaRae Bradburn. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Burnham Mortuary in St. Johns. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Downtown Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Johns with a visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
