Carl Bradley Sartwell

Carl Bradley Sartwell was born January 4, 1917 in Van Nuys, CA to Lydia and Carl B. Sartwell, Sr. He went home to Jesus on May 23, 2015.

He attended schools in Van Nuys and after graduating high school he worked briefly at the fledgling Disney Studios as a background artist. He then was employed, until his retirement, at Lockheed Aircraft Co. in Burbank, CA and then Palmdale, CA.

During his time at Lockheed, he worked with test pilot Chuck Yaeger, Jacqueline Cochran (she set 2 world speed records) and Senator Barry Goldwater who took a flight in the F104. Throughout his life, Carl enjoyed hiking, hunting and fishing in the High Sierras and Sedona area with his family and friends.

He was an ardent Harley Davidson rider and rode until age 93. He was also a proud member of the Christian Motorcycle Assoc. for many years. He moved to Sedona in 1988.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Eva Pearl. He is survived by his wife of 12 years Kathleen; his son and daughter-in-law Steven and Karen Sartwell of Quartzite, AZ; his daughter and son-in-law Carla Sartwell and Mike van Leeuwen of Prescott, AZ; four grandchildren: Angela (Jeff) Guenther of Lancaster, CA, Alene (Dan) McDaniel of Fort Worth, TX, Leah (James) Williams of Concho, AZ and Mitchell Sartwell of Leona Valley, CA; stepsons Jim (Arlene) Cooper of Eagle, NB, Craig (Robin) Stock of Kohler, WI and Peter (Cindy) Stock of Willow Creek, MT; three great-grandchildren Aurora (Jason) Conway and Morgan and Rowyn Guenther and two great-great-grandchildren Dalton and Ethan Conway.

Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood, AZ is in charge of arrangements.

Services will be held Saturday morning, May 30, 2015 at the Church of the Nazarene, 55 Rojo Drive in the Village of Oak Creek. Visitation will begin at 10 am with the service following at 11 am.

Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale.
