Frank L. Ruiz was born, raised and lived in the Camp Globe neighborhood of Globe. He was known in the extended Ruiz family as “Nicho”. Following high school Frank joined the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific aboard destroyers and destroyer escorts during the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Frank ended his Navy career early to return to Globe to care for his mother, Rosa, in the family Camp Globe home. Once in Globe, he went to work at the Inspiration Copper rod plant, eventually retiring from Inspiration. Frank earned an A.A. Degree from Eastern Arizona College in 1997.

Frank was a beloved son, little brother and uncle in his extended family.

His parents, Dionicio and Rosa, and his older brothers and sisters, Ignacio (Nacho) Ruiz, Epimena Navarro, Mary Albo, David Ruiz, Eusebio (Sam) Ruiz, Nicolas (Nick) Ruiz, Angela (Angie) Tewksbury and Rosemary Ruiz all predeceased him.

Frank is survived by 23 nephews and nieces. As a high school student Frank loved music and radio. He began a successful decades long local radio career by helping Pete Oviedo at the old KWJB radio station with “La Hora Mexicana” and continued a Mexican music program at KIKO working for Willard Shoecraft; then at KJ radio, working for Gene Pearsall.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe.

Interment will be in the Ruiz family area of the old Globe Cemetery.
