Arizona native Angel Gaspar Aguilera passed away peacefully on July 21, 2015, surrounded by the loving embrace of his family. Angel was born on February 20, 1925, to Eduardo and Angelita Aguilera in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended St. Mary's Elementary School and later graduated from Phoenix Technical Academy. Angel enlisted in the US Army and served during World War II, specializing in radio communications in the armored division under General George Patton.

Angel returned to Phoenix and married the love of his life, Mary Dolores Avila, in 1947 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Washington Street. The couple resided in Phoenix, where they had three children. His early career continued in radio and television service at Dependable Radio in Phoenix. In the mid 1950s, Angel relocated his family to Prescott, Arizona. He was instrumental in pioneering the development of telecommunications by bringing cable TV to the Prescott area.

Within a few years, Prescott Cable TV Services became Sight and Sound located on South Montezuma Street, where he provided electronic sales and repair to the community. Many long-term residents may recall Angel servicing their TVs in their living rooms-which continued long after he sold Sight and Sound. Later, he transitioned to Global Aviation as an electronic technician and then as a Veteran Representative for the Arizona Department of Economic Security/Job Service, where he eventually retired in 1990.

Angel was a devout parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott and an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 1042-where he also served as a Grand Knight. Additionally, Angel was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. He was a community volunteer activist, helping homeless shelters and the residents of area nursing facilities. He was also a member of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), which is instrumental in educating and promoting Mexican-American heritage and culture. Angel was very outgoing and a caring individual who was generous with his family, friends and relatives. He enjoyed working with youth in the community. Angel was always caring for others in need, selfless and generous. He enjoyed sharing his music by playing his guitar and singing with family and friends.

Angel is survived by his wife Mary; their three children and spouses, Angela and Tom Daggy of Mesa, Carlos Aguilera of Prescott, and Ron and Bettina Aguilera, also of Prescott.

Visitation and Rosary Service will be on Monday, July 27, from 5-7 p.m. at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 400 S. Power Road, Mesa. Mass will be on Tuesday, July 28, 10 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 1534 N. Recker Rd, Mesa. Reception to follow.
