| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, July 26, 2015 Virginia (Ginny) Lee Branch 1929 - 2015 With her husband and family at her bedside, Virginia (Ginny) Lee Branch peacefully entered into Heaven on July 7, 2015. She was born in Helena, Montana to Virginia and Samuel Trumper Noland. Beginning at age six, following the death of her mother, Ginny was raised in Long Beach, California by her aunt and uncle, Marianne and John Prahl. Her childhood memories included bike riding, roller-skating, and swimming. In 1947, while attending the University of Arizona, she met the love of her life, David (Dave) Branch Jr. The two married in Dallas, Texas in 1949 and briefly lived there. Dave was called back into the Army and served in Korea until September 1951. Upon his return, he met their first child, Lynne who had arrived while he was deployed. Two more children, Sue and John, were added to the Branch family and they settled in Long Beach, California, where Ginny and Dave lived until 1974. From 1974 until 1993, they lived in Valley Center, California. In 1993, they moved to Prescott, Arizona where the two enjoyed many years prior to Ginny's declining health. Ginny was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her favorite activities included family get-togethers, traveling dining and shopping. In 1972, Ginny accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and for more than 20 years, she faithfully taught Sunday School. A few of Ginny's many interests included history, politics and reading. Her political interests began when she was very young. At age 11 during the 1940 presidential campaign, she drafted and distributed hand written flyers for presidential hopeful Wendell Willkie. Before she was 21, the legal age to vote at the time, she volunteered as the office manager at the Howard Pyle for Governor Campaign Headquarters in Tucson. Later she was elected as president for two Republican Women's organizations in California. Ginny was an avid reader, often reading a book per day. She particularly enjoyed books with historical content. She had a vast subject matter knowledge concerning the Civil War. Ginny is survived by David, her devoted husband of 66 years; three children and their spouses, Lynne Hainley (Steve), Sue Dickinson (Bob), and John Branch (Lisa); seven grandchildren, Stephen Hainley, John Hainley, Daniel Hainley, Deonna Gammage, Russell Dickinson, David Lee Branch, and Jordan Branch; as well as five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at Willow Hills Baptist Church, 1071 Mogollon Road, Prescott, Arizona In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to Good Samaritan Medical Dental Ministry, www.gsmdm.org.
