Lewis Earl (Lew) Wallace

Lewis E. Wallace, 79, of Glendale passed away on July 14, 2015. Lewis Earl Wallace, known to many as ”Lew” was born on Sept. 4, 1935, in Huntington, W.V.

He married Hester Beckett on May 20, 1954. Lew, Hester and their three children Mike, Madeline and Wanda resided in Dayton, Ohio, where Lew was employed by Globe Industries as a machinist and foreman.

In 1969, Lew and family moved to Glendale to be near his mother Virginia and his siblings. Lew was a highly skilled machinist and his outstanding workmanship was appreciated by many people.

In later life, he founded LEW Company, his small business which put his machinist and technical skills to great use. Lew enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, fishing, playing guitar and treasure hunting. Lew and Hester were avid treasure hunters who spent many years scanning the Arizona deserts with their metal detectors.

Lew loved spending time with family and friends. The wealth of knowledge he shared with all will be greatly missed.

Lew is survived by his brother Tom (Sharon) Wallace; son Mike (Carol) Wallace; daughters Madeline Treadwell and Wanda (Frank) Scott; seven grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lew was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Hester; mother Virginia; sister Sally (Lonnie) Merritt, and his brother Terry Wallace.

Services have been held.
