Born in Cottonwood, Arizona on Feb. 17, 1988.
Departed on July 1, 2002 and resided in Prescott Valley, Arizona.

Courtney Lynn Butler, 14, of Prescott Valley and formerly of Cottonwood was born February 17, 1988 in Cottonwood to John R. Butler and Colleen E. (Conley) Butler. She passed away on June 28, 2002.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her brother, Cody Owen Butler, Prescott Valley, Ariz.; grandparents, Ken and Lu Bishop, Cornville, Ariz.; Wally and Kay Linton, Tempe, Ariz.; great-grandfather Robert Bishop, Cottonwood, Ariz.; numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and closest friends of Cottonwood, Prescott Valley and Phoenix.

Courtney's hobbies and interests were in five years of volleyball, two years of soccer, she was an active particpant in the Verde Valley Junior Rodeo for eight years. She spent numerous hours talking on the phone to her friends and family. Her goal in life was to become a pediatrician and had decided to do that at the age of 5. She had just graduated from 8th grade and was looking forward to becoming a freshman in High School. Throughout her entire schooling she was an 'A' and 'B' student with the want to acheive any goal set before her and would not let anyone tell her she couldn't do it.

Anyone who knew Courtney knew how outgoing, uplifting, caring, bright, intelligent and how willing to help anyone and everyone she was. She could become friends with everyone she met, she had the world in her hands with her wonderful attitude.

She will be missed by all whose lives she touched and anyone who knew her.

In loving memory she will never be forgotten and our memories of her will go on forever.

A vistation will be held on Wednesday, July 3 in the Westcott Funeral Home from 9-10 a.m. The funeral service will follw at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow the funeral in the Valley View Cemetery.
