George Stephen (Mack) McInturff

George Stephen (Mack) McInturff, 77, of Morristown died Aug. 12, 2015. A native of Yancey County, N.C., he was born in the Indian Creek Community on June 23, 1938, and graduated from Bald Creek High School in 1956. Immediately after graduation, he joined the Air Force and made military service his career.

His military career spanned 23 years with postings from Newfoundland to California including two tours of duty in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. After retiring from the Air Force, Mack/Steve lived in Tacoma, Wash., where he taught classes at Bates Technical College for 18 years.

He is preceded in death by his son Roger McInturff, and his father George L McInturff.

Survivors include his wife Florence McInturff of Morristown; daughter Stephanie McInturff of Tacoma; mother Illa Phillips McInturff of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; sisters, Patricia McInturff Utley of Signal Mountain and Jean McInturff Parrish of Laguna Niguel, Calif; three step-daughters Camille McDowell of Meadewiew, Ariz., Wynona Buck of Gig Harbor, Wash., Rachelle Lunde Graham of Washington; and stepson John Cohen of Gig Harbor, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in Wickenburg at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sept. 8, 2015 at 1 p.m. Interment will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash., with full military honors.

Arrangements are being handled through David’s Desert Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to The Hope Foundation, c/o Homestead Hospice, 14880 W. Mountain View, Suite 210, Surprise, AZ 85374.
