Leon Olen Moran, 72, passed away Aug. 11 at the Hospice of the Valley Lund Home in Gilbert, Ariz.

Leon is survived by his wife of 49 years, Garland Moran; his children, Richard and Priscilla Moran, Robert Moran, Jessica Meredith, Lonny and Cynthia Moran; his grandchildren, Crystal Eiserman, Katrina Moran, Asha Moran, Dakota and Christine Moran, Tyler Moran, Madison Moran, and Marley Moran; his great grandchildren, Xander Jackson, Brennan Moran, and sisters Lynn Breeland, and Marie Howell, as well as many others who he considered family and friends.

Leon was born on July 15, 1943 and weighed only 2.8 pounds. His mother took him home and fed him well enough to grow into a strong, brave, young man.

Leon joined the Army at age 17, where he was able to travel to various parts of the world, Hawaii always being one of his favorites. After the Army, Leon met Garland Faye Medlock and they married on Nov. 1, 1965.

Leon moved to many, many places in his life, but finally settled in Globe, Ariz. Leon ran a successful body shop that his three sons continue to own and operate today. Leon instilled a good, strong work ethic and the love of cars in his sons at an early age.

Leon was and continues to be respected by many for his living, forgiving, helpful soul.
