Steven Wallace Niva was born in Belle Fourche, S.D., on Feb. 26, 1953. He graduated from Belle Fourche HighSchool in 1971.

Steven resided in South Dakota until 1980 when he moved to Phoenix, here he worked in construction.

In 1989, he moved with his parents to Prescott Valley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Niva, in September 1989.

In 1996 he and his mother purchased property in Dewey where he was residing until the time of his passing on Feb. 18, 2007.

Survivors include mother Gladys I. (Elenberger) Niva of Dewey, Ariz.; brother Michael and his wife, Darci Niva, of Chandler, Ariz.; sister Cheryl and husband Grady Hopson of Dewey, Ariz.; six nieces and nephews, Tanner Hopson, Jeremy Hopson, Elissa Palusczyk, Peter Niva, Charity Niva and Adam Niva.

Steven loved working with his hands and was a perfectionist carpenter and landscaper. He was most proud of his family and his work. His favorite enjoyment was golfing and fishing with family and friends.

A memorial has been established, namely: Financial Assistance for The Chronically Ill Who Have no Medical Insurance.

A public memorial service will be 2 p.m. March 11 at City In The Desert Church, Tempe, Arizona. There will be food and fellowship following the service. Come and celebrate Steven's life with his loving family.
