Called To Her Reward

Mrs. K. Belle Marden, wife of Dr. A. E. Marden of Fool’s Gulch, died
at her home there on Thursday morning, February 1, after an illness
of only five days. Her death has cast a gloom over the little camp
where she resided, as she was universally beloved by all who knew
her. She was a woman of a most lovable character, a devoted wife
and excellent neighbor and companion, her very presence being a
benediction. She was a consistent member of the Presbyterian church
and in her life lived the principals she professed.

Deceased was born in Missouri, March 22, 1866, hence only lacked
about two months of being 34 years old. Her parents moved to
Fredonia, Kansas, where her childhood and early womanhood was spent.
She came to Arizona several months ago as a teacher in the Indian
school at Sacaton agency, where Dr. Marden was stationed as
physician. A friendship spring up between them, which ripened into
love, resulting in a happy marriage about four years ago. She and
her husband have resided at Fool’s Gulch in this county for about
three years.

In addition to her husband, she leaves a father and mother, Mr. and
Mrs. G. I. Green, two sisters and two brothers, all residents of
Fredonia, Kansas, and to whom the announcement of the sudden and
unexpected death of their loved on will come as a great blow.

The remains were brought up on this morning’s train, accompanied by
a number of friends and were temporarily laid to rest in the
citizens’ cemetery, at Prescott this afternoon at 5 o’clock, but
will be taken up later and removed to Fredonia, Kansas, for final
interment.

Dr. Maden has the sympathy of the community in his bereavement.

Transcriber's note: As far as can be determined she has not been
removed to Fredonia, Kansas and is still buried at the Citizens
Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
