Worcester--Diane P. (Foisy) Gallagher passed away on Friday, July 24th in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Worcester, on September 8, 1937, daughter of Stephen H. Foisy and Christine (Mitrush) Foisy.

Diane was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Edward F. Gallagher. She leaves behind her children: Christine and her husband Stephen Thienel, Of Woodstock, CT, Edward and his wife Sally Gallagher of Philomath, OR, Kathleen Gallagher and her partner Dianne Williamson of Worcester, Patrick Gallagher and his partner Nancy Daigle of Rutland, Kelley and her husband John Joseph of Bolton, Kim and her husband Thomas Zona of Auburn, Eileen and her husband Paul Baril of Boyleston, and Maureen and her husband Kevin Connor of Rochdale. She also leaves behind 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Diane was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Botty of Holden, and her brother Louis Foisy of Worcester. She is survived by her brother Thomas Foisy of Morningdale, and her sister Marlene Stephens of Black Canyon City, AZ.

While raising her large family, she found time to devote to her community, serving on the School Committee and PTA in Leicester, and the Ladies Guild of St. Aloysius Church in Rochdale. It was important to her to help better the lives of others, and as such she was instrumental in bringing Drug Education and a Youth Center to the town of Leicester.

But, it is her love of family that stands out among all of her works. She dedicated her life to her children and husband--with sacrifices too numerous to count and a love too great to measure.

Diane and Ed spent 45 years with their children at their summer home on Mascoma Lake in Enfield, NH where her love for gardening, bird watching and interior design filled her days. She has passed her torch, her zest for life on to her family.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30am Wednesday, July 29, at Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 75817, Topeka, KS 66675.

O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, is assisting with arrangements.
