Leland D. Shoptaugh, 80 of Cottonwood, passed away in Prescott on July 2, 2015. He was born on February 8, 1935 in Oakland, California to George and Josephine Shoptaugh.

Leland attended the University of California in Berkley. He served his country in the Army as LTC during the Vietnam War and received the Meritorious Service Medal.

Leland worked for OSA for 28 years and as a real estate broker. He belonged to Verde Baptist Church in Cottonwood and was a member of the Harmony On The Rocks barbershop group in Sedona.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents George and Josephine. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Linda of Cottonwood; son Edward Shoptaugh of Dallas; daughters Eydie Mellin (Ken) of Colorado Springs and Janice D'Alessio (Rick) of Vail, AZ; brothers Phillip Shoptaugh (Patricia) of Oakland, CA and Stanley Shoptaugh (Toni) of Ukiah, CA and 5 grandchildren: Ashley, Candice, Bill, Kyle and Carly.

A memorial service will be held at Verde Baptist Church, 102 S. Willard Street in Cottonwood on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 2:00pm. Burial will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 Cave Creek Road in Phoenix on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00am.
