| The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Saturday, July 18, 2015 Shirley Mae Preston, 86, of Cottonwood passed away July 12, 2015. Shirley was born February 1, 1929 in Santa Monica, California to the late Clyde and Beatrice Poston. Shirley worked for the US Postal Service in Flagstaff for many years. She and her husband, Robert Wade Preston lived in Flagstaff where they raised their adopted children before retiring to the Verde Valley. Shirley and Robert loved to travel and would often RV all over the United Stated, Mexico and Canada. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was also an avid reader, she also loved painting and gardening. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Wade Preston and her son, Mike Preston. She is survived by her children, Kenneth R. Preston and Marianne Helledy; seven grandchildren and two great-granchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Monday, July 20, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cottonwood Stake Center, 1377 E. Hombre Drive, Cottonwood, AZ.
