Helen Wells, one of the first council members for the Chino Valley Town Council, passed away peacefully in her home Sept. 30, 2015, at the age of 89 years young.

Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on April 8, 1926, Helen led life to the fullest as depicted in her 80th birthday celebration song's rewritten lyrics to the Statler Brother's "Do You Remember These:"

April 1926 History was made,
Helen Hicha was born and since then nothing's been the same
We hope this list of your life brings fond memories
Say do you remember these.

Worcester Mass, the Orthodox Church and concerts for the cause
Tobacco fields, Kee's Restaurant, experience she draws.

Waitress, housewife, phone operator, what number please
Ah do you remember these.

Air force base after air force base then moving on to France
Living in the village among the French was her stance
The kids went to school; she made friends until she had to leave
Oh do you remember these.

While in France they had very little money to spare
To get more for the American Dollar she had to go elsewhere
Off she'd go to Germany to buy what she could pack,
Boy? Do you remember that?

St. Joe's Hospital, Frontier Homes and CVID
County School Office, Real Estate and dress shop on the prairie
The lumber store, the Town's Incorporation, door to door she goes
Ooh do you remember those.

Horses, cows and birds and labs and riding in the hills
Irrigating, watering trees and of gophers you've had your fill
Gem collecting, Russian food and more traveling overseas,
Wow, do you remember these.

Horse racing, dog racing and advertising in parades,
Don't go for the mail, there'll be new rentals we're afraid
Fiddle playing, poker playing with friends and family
Man, do you remember these.

We've tried to cover everything; we've tried to be complete
You've done so much in your life, it just can't be beat
Our admiration, awe and much respect we do give too
Oh boy do we love you, yes we do
Do we, do we love you.
