Donna Rider

Prescott resident and world traveler Donna (Donnie) Dimitroff Rider went on to a new world on Monday, Sept. 28, 2015. Born in Clayton, New Mexico, to Macedonian immigrants Zina and Kosta Dimitroff, Donna graduated from Clayton High School and then moved into the banking business in southern California, where she met the love of her life, Don Rider, who preceded her in death.

Donnie and Don were both longtime employees of the CIA and lived outside the United States for many years, including postings in South America and Africa. Upon their retirement in 1972, they settled in Prescott, where they developed several Prescott neighborhoods, including The Villas.

Donnie was the youngest child in her family; her siblings Mary Dimitroff White, Jim Dimitroff, and Rodey Dimitroff all have gone to their heavenly rest. She is survived by nephews and nieces Charles and Linda White, Barbara and Larry Blakley, all of Albuquerque; Rodney Ray and Georgia Dimitroff of Clayton; Lorraine and Dale Ellis of Amistad, New Mexico; numerous grandnieces and -nephews, and many dearly loved friends.

Donnie enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, shopping, chatting with family and friends. In her last years she was so thankful for the visits and management of her affairs by niece Barbara; and she also was grateful for the attention provided by Home Instead caregivers.

Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Donnie's life at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., with private inurnment at Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Donnie's family respectfully suggests memorial contributions to your church or a charity of your choice.
