Ernest (Ernie) Odell Long Born in Marlow, Oklahoma on Dec. 20, 1934 Departed on May 19, 2003 and resided in Cornville, AZ. Ernest (Ernie) Odell Long of Cornville, Arizona lost his battle with cancer May 19, 2003. Ernie the son of Walter (Shorty) Long and Helen Hyatt was born December 20, 1934 in Marlow, Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife Jolene, son: Ken Long and daughter Cynthia Mae Huggins both of Parachute, Colo.; a sister, Mary Fern Martin and mother, Helen Hyatt both of Hermiston, Ore.; four grandchildren: DJ, Sheri, Danny, Kealey, and four great-grandchildren Mikenzie, Tyrese, Nikolas and Zachary. His father Walter (Shorty) Long and a grandson Nicholas Odell Long preceded him in death. When Ernie was three years old his family moved to Arizona where Ernie spent most of his life. He served in the United States Air Force for three years and then served three years in the United States Army. He joined the Laborers Union in 1966 and he especially enjoyed his job as a driller. Ernie was a member of the Sedona Lodge of Elks for 39 years and a member of the American Legion Post #25 in Cottonwood for 6 years. Ernie was a people person who enjoyed being with his family and friends. He also loved to listen to music, esecially country and western. Ernie will be greatly missed by his famliy and friends. A visitation will be held on Friday evening, May 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Westcott Funeral Home 1013 E. Mingus Avenue, Cottonwood, Arizona. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning, May 24th at 11:00 A.M. at the Westcott Funeral Home. Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood and Camp Verde, Arizona. |
