| Leona Mildred (Callahan) Wiggins Gerig Born in Paintrock, Texas on Sept. 4, 1914. Departed on July 21, 2005 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. Leona Mildred Gerig, 90 of Sedona, passed away on July 21, 2005. She was born in Paintrock, Texas to Mildred and Emma Callahan. Mrs. Gerig attended Gilbert High School and graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in teaching. After receiving a degree, she married Raymond Wiggins in 1937 who was a prominent Chandler farmer. In addition to being a farmer's wife, Mrs. Gerig was a dedicated mother and school teacher in Chandler schools. Mrs. Gerig was widowed in 1949 and later married Virgil Gerig. She once again shared the responsibilities of operating the Wiggins Farm in Chandler and the Gerig Farms in North Dakota. She loved playing golf, painting, art, gardening, traveling and reading. She belonged to the Chandler Methodist Church, the Chandler Service Club and for over 50 years she was a star member of the Order of the Eastern where she had been a charter member and served as Past Worthy Matron. As an avid golfer, Mrs. Gerig was a charter member of the Mesa Country Club and in 1974 she moved from the Valley to Sedona, where she joined the Oak Creek Country Club and she was also a member of the Sedona Arts Center. Mrs. Gerig is survived by her daughter Donna Rae Wiggins Baker (Donald Grogan) of Cottonwood; sister Nevetta Morrison of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; grandchildren Raymond Hunt (Vivian) of Thayne, Wy., Shauna Wilson (Roger)of Ketchum, Id. and Melanie Allred (Ron)of Cottonwood, Ariz.; and six great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her 2 husbands, Raymond Wiggins and Virgil Gerig; brothers Lowell and Lester Callahan, and her parents Mildred and Emma Callahan. Graveside services were held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, Calif. on Tuesday, July 26th. Memorial donations can be made to any Chandler Service Club charities or to the American Cancer Society, 2929 S. 48th St. Tempe, Arizona, 85282.
