Melody (Rose) (Alexander) Buckley

Melody Rose Buckley went to her heavenly home to be with the Lord on Oct. 30, 2015.

Mel was born Aug. 8, 1947 to John and Zenith Alexander in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Mel and her family moved to Prescott, Arizona in 1957.

Mel graduated from Prescott High School in 1965 and attended college at ASU. She returned to Prescott and worked as a dental assistant. In 1977, Mel went to work for the Prescott VA Medical Center. Mel contributed 37 years and 2 months to the Veterans around the world. She also contributed 22 years as a Sunday school teacher for the children of the First Southern Baptist Church of Prescott.

In July of 1980, Mel had her son Rich Doty. On April 4, 1987, Mel married Don Buckley in Prescott, Arizona. The three of them lived in Prescott until they moved to their Williamson Valley home in 1994. Mel absolutely loved her home and family. Mel's passion for the last three years was being an incredible grandmother for her pride and joy Paisley. She loved taking hikes to the owl tree with Mr. Zip and her granddaughter Miss P. Paisley Harper Doty.

Mel is survived by her husband Don; son Rich; granddaughter Paisley; brothers Kurt, Dave and Hill; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday Nov. 14, 2015 at the Willow Hills Baptist Church, 1071 Mogollon Road, Prescott, Arizona. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory can be made to the Willow Hills Baptist Church youth fund.

Hampton Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
