About a week or ten days ago Mrs. E. W. French, wife of ex-Probate Judge E. W. French, while walking in front of her house, slipped and fell, sustaining injuries which resulted in her death about 1 o'clock this morning. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Moore, of Walnut Grove, were immediately notified of the accident and came up last week, and, with her husband, gave her the most careful nursing possible.

Deceased came here with her parents when she was but a child and has resided in Prescott and Walnut Grove ever since. She was a woman of noble impulses, generous and sympathetic in her nature, and was beloved by a large circle of friends. She leaves a husband and three children, father, mother and brother to mourn her untimely death. The remains will be taken on tonight's train to Kirkland valley, thence by wagon to Walnut Grove for burial.

Her relatives have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

Funeral services over the remains of the late Mrs. E. W. French were held at the family residence last evening at 7:30 o'clock, Rev H. W. Peck officiating. As the remains were shipped on last night's train to Kirkland, en route to Walnut Grove for burial, it was not decided until a late hour to hold services here, hence but short notice was given. The rooms, notwithstanding the brief notice, were, however, crowded with friends of the family to pay their last respects to the dead, as well as to manifest their sympathy for the bereaved relatives.

A pitiful sight of the occasion, and one which would bring a heart of stone to sympathy, was to witness the uncontrollable and inexpressible grief of the little boy and girl, who have been so suddenly bereft of the loving and devoted care of an affectionate mother, whose life was wrapped up in her children and relatives, and whose every thought was for their comfort. Forgetful entirely of herself, she involuntarily thought only of contributing to the happiness of those around her.
