RIVERTON, Wyo. - The memorial service for Kenneth "Chuck" Lane, 84, of rural Riverton will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davis Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton. Mr. Lane died April 23, 2009 at Wind River Healthcare in Riverton. He was born in Clarita, Okla., on April 17, 1925, a son of Wiley G. and Mattie L. (Bronough) Lane. He grew up in Oklahoma and Texas, raised by his brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles after his mother died when he was 2. He was graduated from high school in Duncan, Okla., in 1943. On Jan. 17, 1948 he married Caroline L. DeSoto in Phoenix. He worked as a cowboy on the Pitchfork Ranch in Texas, the Waggoner Ranch in Texas and for Spur Feeding Company in Glendale. He lived in Casa Grande for 35 years and moved to Riverton in May 2008. He was Baptist. His family said he loved braiding reins and headstalls. He also enjoyed word puzzles, team roping and rodeos. Survivors include two sons, Kenny L. Lane of Riverton and Jodey Lane of Casa Grande; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, in 2008; a son, Cody Lane; seven brothers, Joy, Orval, Harval, Eulice, Odes, Cecil and Willy; and a sister, Dovi. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the American Lung Association, in care of Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main, Riverton, WY 82501.
