Walter (Sonny) E. Jordan, Jr. born in Flagstaff July 1, 1936, grew up on his parents' fruit ranch in Sedona, died on Jan. 12 at Flagstaff Medical Center.

His elementary years were spent at the Brewer School in Sedona.

In 1954 Walter graduated from Cottonwood HS, earning a letterman's sweater for outstanding service as equipment manager for the varsity football team.

Upon attaining his Real Estate license he sold properties throughout the Verde Valley, prior to moving to work with the Mesa Community Center and United Way.

As his parents, Walter & Ruth Jordan, aged and needed more assistance, he returned to the family home in Sedona to care for them.

After Walter Sr. passed away in 1987, he moved to Pennsylvania and worked many years for the DuBois family as a real estate and management consultant.

Although health issues brought him back to Cottonwood in 2008, he continued to assist the DuBois family.

His interests included anything to do with cars, photography (which he learned from Uncle George Jordan), and travel.

He is survived by his sister, Ruth Van Epps, cousin Charles Jordan, 7 nieces and nephews, 5 grandnieces and nephews, plus 2 great grandnieces.

In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting gifts to Sedona Heritage Museum (P.O. Box 10216, Sedona, AZ. 86339) or an animal shelter of your choice.

Services are to be held at Sedona Heritage Museum, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m.
