Chester Noel Alley

Chester Noel Alley passed away Jan. 20, 2016 at home surrounded by family. He was born Feb. 22, 1924, the second of eight children.

Chester was married to Vestal Alley for more than 70 years and they had four children, one child preceding him in death.

Chester is survived by his wife; three children; nine grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Chester served his country in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division during WWII. On D-Day, Chester participated in the invasion of Normandy by parachuting into St. Mere, Elise. Chester fought until the end of WWII, participating in the Northern French, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. Chester received numerous ribbons and medals, including the Silver Star. Chester continued service to his country with 33 years of Civil Service. Chester showed bravery, honor and devotion by living as an example for his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and everyone he met. A true hero, he will be missed.

Chester will be laid to rest at Prescott National Cemetery near his son.
