Amelia (Head) Poppe

Amelia Poppe, 88, died on April 15, 2009. She was born in Roswell, N.M., Aug. 23, 1920, and was a resident of Albuquerque since 1940.

She held numerous administrative positions and served as the informational officer on the New Mexico Employment Commission, appointed by Gov. David F. Cargo. She also served as president of the New Mexico State PTA. She was a member of ADAH Chapter No. 5 OES and BPO Elks No. 461 Ladies Organization. Mrs. Poppe was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; her parents, W.G. and Emma Head; and sisters, Gwenivere Brady and Esther Taute.

Mrs. Poppe is survived by her daughters, Catherine A. Nesbitt, Sumter, S.C., Pamela E. Williams, San Antonio, and Patricia L. Lewis of Kingman; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services have been held.
