BRACKETT, Lillian C.

Lillian C. Brackett passed way Wednesday, April 22, 2009 with family members at her side. Lillian was born May 5, 1925, the first child of Jane and Vincent Kaczmarski in Chicago, Illinois.

As a young child her parents moved to Buffalo, New York, where she completed her high school education. After a delay because of the war and other hardships, she finally fulfilled her dream of going to college. She attended Buffalo State College. A year before graduating, Perry Brackett of Billings, Montana, appeared on the scene they became engaged and continued their romance by mail and telephone for a year. They were married in Lockport, New York, in her parents' back yard on June 7, 1958. Lillian graduated on June 8th Magna Cum Laud with a degree in Home Economics.

After raising two children: son, Jim and daughter, Janine, Lillian continued her education with a Masters of Science in Education in 1981 from Northern State College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She also completed an advanced degree in Nutritional Science.

Lillian had many talents. She was an artist, a teacher; from primary grades to adult education, and she enjoyed calligraphy. Perry's job required several moves and Lillian always made the family's transition to each new location easier, whether it was Washington (State), Alaska, Minnesota, New Mexico, South Dakota or Arizona. Lillian and her adventurous spirit made her anxious to explore each new place and make each place home. Lillian loved to travel and was able to see much of the world on her travels with Perry. She also enjoyed making friends with many of the people she would meet in her travels.

Lillian is survived by her husband, Perry C. Brackett; her daughter, Janine; daughter-in-law, Beth Brackett of Vienna, Virginia; son-in-law, Tom; granddaughter, Kaitlin Sauer of San Antonio, Texas; her brother, Walter Kaz and wife, Lucy of Middleport, New York; and nephews: Tom Kaz and family of Montclair, New Jersey, David Kaz and family of Knoxville, Tennessee, Daniel Kaz and wife Terri of Huntington Beach, California and Douglas Kaz of Costa Mesa, California.
