Edith Georgina “Georgie” Jensen, 89, of Safford passed away at her home April 11, 2009. Georgie was born and educated in England and was a member of the Safford First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Georgie married Carl Jensen in Las Vegas in 1973, and they were later sealed in the Mesa LDS Temple in 1978. Georgie served as a temple worker at the Los Angeles Temple. She was a warm and loving person who enjoyed people, babies, working in her garden and singing. She also volunteered at the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center, working with the Ladies Auxiliary. Georgie was proud of her heritage and was grateful for her new home in the United States.

Georgie is survived by her husband, Carl Jensen; children, Bruce (Chris) Tuthill, Janet (Stan) Groff, Jaqualine Rowe, Patricia Leibich, Carl J. (Carrol) Jensen and Maxine Oakeson; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 14, at 11 a.m. at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Safford First Ward Missionary Fund.
