| ALVAREZ, Alice L. Alice L. Alvarez, 77, of Clifton passed away March 17, 2009, in Safford. Alice was born March 21, 1931, in Morenci to Jesus and Isabel Chacon Lara. She married Joe Alvarez in 1949 at the Old Morenci Church. In the early years of their marriage, they resided in Morenci but later moved to Shannon Hill in Clifton. Alice enjoyed crocheting, cooking, camping and especially raising her grandchildren. She was a loving wife and mother and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Joe Alvarez of Clifton; children, Gerrie (Andy) Clifton of Clifton, Joey (Lynn) Alvarez of Globe, Shirley (Eddie) Mortensen of Clifton, Raymond Alvarez of Clifton and Angela Cisneros of Safford; sister, Amy Hill of Safford, 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters and son, Harold P. Alvarez. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 28, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clifton, and Alice was laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
