Irene Agness (Walsh) Wacker

Irene Wacker, 95 of Cottonwood, passed away on February 15, 2016. She was born on February 15, 1921 in Lyndon Station, WI to Edward Walsh and Florence Trainor.

Irene attended St. Francis School of Nursing for 4 years and received her nursing degree. She worked for Mercy Hospital in Sacramento, Kaiser Hospital in Portland, Marcus J. Lawrence Hospital (now VVMC) in Cottonwood and at Clarkdale Elementary School. She was extremely proud of being a registered nurse.

Irene belonged to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and the Lady Elks.

Irene enjoyed talking to family on the phone. She was a "Social Butterfly".

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Leo Wacker; daughter Nancy Wills; sister Mary Norris and brothers Edward Walsh and Maurice Walsh. She is survived by her sons John Wacker (Marilyn) and Tom Wacker (Terri); daughter Carleen Garcia; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held for Irene at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Clarkdale on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10 a.m.
