ANDERSON, Theodore C.

Theodore C. Anderson passed away on April 22, 2009. Mr. Anderson was born on Sept. 19, 1927 in Westfield, Mass., living most of his adult life in New Jersey.

Mr. Anderson moved with his late wife, Marjorie, to Arizona in 1989, and they made their home in Fountain Hills.

Ted enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946 and was placed in a field artillery unit. After an honorable discharge he finished school at MIT and graduated with a bachelor’s as well as a master’s degree in electrical engineering. His career with Bell Laboratories spanned 39 years. During his time at Bell he served as chairman of the International Transmissions & Standards Prep Group, which was funded by the U.N. and held each year in Geneva, Switzerland.

Ted was active in many service groups including Kiwanis, Fountain Hills Historical Society, Arts Council, a Town of Fountain Hills commission, Arizona Library for the Handicapped and Blind and he loved singing in the community and church choir.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie Boynton Anderson, Ted is survived by his three children, Ted Anderson of Denver, Colo., Audrey Haag of Erie, Pa., and Neil Anderson of San Diego, Calif. He is also survived by daughters-in-law, Deborah Anderson and Sandy Wiegers, along with son-in-law, David Haag.

Ted was very proud of his grandchildren, Kenneth Haag, and his wife, Christina, Karla Haag, Nicole Anderson and Jeffrey Anderson. Ted also leaves behind two sisters, Frances Avery of Charlemont, Mass., and Eleanor Hamlin of Ware, Mass.

Ted will always be remembered as being intelligent and good natured, a loving family man and a devoted husband.

A memorial service will be held at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, 13001 N. Fountain Hills Blvd. at 10 a.m. Friday, May 1, followed by a private family graveside service to be held at Paradise Memorial Garden. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Fountain Hills Historical Society.
