Funeral services for Ruth Ann McCombs, 58, were held on Friday, April 24, 2009 in Chinle. A private burial followed at John Brown Jr's residence in Crystal, N.M.

Ruth Ann died Saturday, April 18, 2009 in Phoenix, Ariz. She was born Sept. 10, 1950 in Rehoboth, N.M. into the Tangle Clan for the Coyote Pass Clan.

McCombs graduated from Provo High School in 1969. She attended ASU and earned two bachelor's degrees from Brigham Young University in 1974, majoring in early childhood development and sociology.

She was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was active in the church holding many callings throughout her life. She was a founding member of the "Lamanite Generation" (a BYU performing group) and traveled throughout the country and internationally. She married Edward W. McCombs in 1974 in the Provo, Utah Temple.

Preceding Ruth Ann's passing was her son Joseph Russell McCombs. The surviving immediate family includes Ed, son Scott Preston McCombs, daughter Sommer Nani Hovey, daughter Crystal Tewa Begay, two grandsons and three granddaughters. Her father and mother are John Brown Jr. and Loncie Brown of Crystal, N.M.
