John D. Tenney

John D. Tenney, 62, died at his home in Snowflake Thursday, April 16, 2009. He was born in Safford March 22, 1947, to John and Emma Tenney.

John served his country in the National Guard. He was a machinist for 42 years and retired in 2003 from Salt River Project.

He was well known and loved by everyone for his mechanical ingenuity and his selfless service to others. He served in many different callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was an avid Harley-Davidson and hot rod enthusiast and was relied upon by many local riders. He will be greatly missed by family and many friends.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pam Tenney; sons Darrin Tenney of Phoenix, Thomas (Erica) Tenney of Mesa and Steven Tenney of Phoenix; daughters Christy (Robert) Strikwerda of Caldwell, Idaho, and Elyse Tenney of Scottsdale; sisters Christine (Jack) Greening of Boulder City, Nev., Reta Benhardt of West Jordan, Utah, Nell (Al) Rugg of Phoenix and Janet Russell of Las Vegas, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Walters and Emma O. Tenney; brothers Frank Tenney and Reed Tenney; and a newborn son.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at the Snowflake 10th Ward, Temple View Chapel Building, 2885 W. Hwy 277, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Snowflake.

Visitation will be from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 25, in Virden, N.M., at 1 p.m.
