Joan (Hall) Vallely

Joan (Hall) Vallely passed away May 7, 2007, in Prescott. She was born toLoys and Louise Wheeler on January 15, 1929, in Prescott where her father had a homestead claim in Groom Creek.

Orphaned at an early age, Joan was raised by Mattie Blanton and her family in their boarding house on Grove Avenue in Prescott. Matt Hall, a miner and veteran peace officer, who resided at the Blanton home as a boarder, adopted Joan when she was four years old so that he could provide for her financial support. He preceded her in death in 1939.

Joan attended St. Joseph's Academy and Prescott public schools and graduated from Prescott High School in 1947. She was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone Company for 29 years as a telephone operator before retiring in 1984.

Joan and Bill Vallely married in 1952 and they celebrated 52 years together until Bill passed away in 2004. She dearly loved him and her family and considered them her greatest treasure in life,

Joan is survived by six children, Hugh Vallely of Van Vleck, Texas, Bill Vallely (Nancy) of Prescott Valley, Tim Vallely (Pam), Carol McFadden (George), Terry Vallely (Kathy) and Sue Beyea (Bob) of Prescott; as well as 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A Rosary will be said at Sacred Heart Church at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007. Funeral services will be at Sacred Heart Church 9 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Prescott Education Foundation, Athletic Department Fund/PHS Hall of Fame, 125 N. Granite Street, Prescott, Ariz., 86301.

The Hampton Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
