Leon David Lawson Sr.
July 30, 1973 - June 19, 2016

Leon David Lawson, Sr., of Cibecue, Navajo County, Arizona passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 in Cibecue. He was 42. Leon was born on July 30, 1973 in Whiteriver, Navajo County, Arizona to Logan Lawson Sr. and Norma Lupe.

Leon began working for the Tribal Forestry Department in Whiteriver in 1999 until 2002. He then began working for the Ft. Apache Engine Crew and held that position for 10 years. He was most recently employed with the White Mountain Apache Tribal Housing Authority as a carpenter.

A humble man, Leon always thought about others and was always willing to help. He was very charitable and would do anything for anyone. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time outdoors with them whether it was hunting or fishing. He spent all his time with his wife and really enjoyed their time together. A loving husband and father he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Lawson of Cibecue; children, Leon Jr., Keon, Karmalita, Leondro, Leron and Kimaura Lawson all of Cibecue; grandchildren, Kenaya and Jayani Lawson; mother, Norma (Azlie) Lupe of Cibecue; father, Logan Lawson Sr. of Cibecue; brothers, Dion and Logan Lawson Jr. of Cibecue; sister, Maxine Bonito of Cibeuce; mother-in-law, Avaline (Garrison) Dehose of Cibecue; father-in-law, Lugardo Cervantes of Cibecue; aunts, Joyce (Delbert Sr.) Wallen and Yolanda Lupe of Cibecue; uncles, Max (Evelyn) Lupe Sr. of Cibecue, Mike Lupe Sr. of Cibecue, Enoch Lupe Sr. of Cibecue, Burnette Lupe of Cibecue and Dewey (Sara) Lupe Sr. of Whiteriver as well as many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dominique Von Lawson; brother, Neon Lawson and grandmother, Rose Lupe.

A two night wake will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 24, 2016 at the family home in Cibecue. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Cibecue Miracle Church in Cibecue. Interment will follow in the Lupe Family Plot in Cibecue.
