Margaret Dean-Queen Johnson, 87, born Aug. 19, 1921, in Big Sandy, W. Va., passed away March 6, 2009. She was one of five children born to Sam and Elizabeth Dean.

She moved to Arizona with her husband Raymond Queen and settled in Prescott in 1949. They both were employed at the Prescott Courier from 1950 till retirement in 1973.

Raymond passed and she remarried Joseph Johnson, a longtime Yavapai County Roads department heavy equipment operator. Mr. Johnson has passed as well.

Margaret Queen Johnson was a woman before her time, working in what was a man's world and being successful in making a difference in children's lives. Many paperboys and papergirls were taught responsibility and work ethic with her teachings. She ran the circulation department at the Courier for many years.

She had no children but has impacted the lives of her nieces and nephews, not to mention the youth of Prescott.

Private services for the family have taken place.
