Marylou Johnsen was born in Detroit, Mich., on April 28, 1927. Her parents were Tessie and Emil Barth. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Anacortes, Wash., and Marylou graduated from Anacortes high school in 1945 as class salutatorian. She met her husband William R. Johnsen in German class her second year of junior college. They married on May 23, 1947.

They later moved to California and spent some 50 years in Monterey, where Bill spent many years as a school administrator. Marylou was always active in the community, and was president one year of her Children's Home Society Chapter.

Bill and Marylou moved to Prescott five years ago to be near their only child, Brett, their granddaughter Sara Rose and daughter-in-law Denise.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Trinity Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers it is suggested that monetary gifts be sent to Trinity Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
