BALENTINE, M.E. (Tip) Longtime Valley resident and businessman M.E. (Tip) Balentine passed away April 15, 2009, at the age of 85. Tip moved to the Valley from Prescott at age 19 to work for PBSW. Here he met and married the love of his life, Cherrill Barney, in 1945. In 1970, Tip purchased PBSW, and it became Balentine Office Products, which he operated until he retired at the age of 79. Tip was secretary of the Elks Club for 18 years, past president of the Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club, and a volunteer with the Safford Fire Department for 25 years. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Cherrill, and is survived by his son, Barney (Frances) Balentine; daughter Susan Balentine; grandsons Barney (Lynnette) and Chris; granddaughter Chelsea Blain; and great-grandson Andrew. Tip will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A memorial service for Tip and Cherrill will be at the Manor House Convention room, May 1, 11 a.m. Published on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 Eastern Arizona Courier. |
