She graduated from the Sibley Memorial School of Nursing in Washington, D.C., in 1951. Jean was a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, specializing in ER and OR nursing in North Kansas City, Missouri.

After retiring to Colorado Springs, she enjoyed many activities: hiking, skiing and participating in the Senior Olympics. She enjoyed a second retirement in Prescott, Arizona, for the past six years.
