The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, October 5, 2016, page 7a Ralph E. Byers, Sr., age 99, passed away on Sept. 30, 2016 in Chino Valley, Arizona. Ralph was born on April 1, 1917, in Homestead, Pennsylvania. Services are pending. ABC Funerals handled all arrangements. --------------------------- The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, October 10, 2016, page 4a Ralph Emerson Byers Sr. passed away at his home in Chino Valley, Arizona, on Sept. 30, 2016. Ralph was born on April 1, 1917, in Homestead, Pennsylvania, to parents Everett and Emma Byers. He was 99 years old. Ralph is survived by his son, Ralph Byers Jr., daughter-in-law, Kathie Byers; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Thelma Byers. As a teen in Pennsylvania, Ralph worked in his step-father’s lumber yard and in the defense industry as a truck driver and carpenter. He enlisted in the Army (1943-1945), was a Corporal, and fought in France where he was wounded three times, earning a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and French Croix de Guerre. After his time in the service, Ralph worked as a commercial construction superintendent until retiring to Chino Valley in 1974. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Affordable Burial and Cremation, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314. Information provided by survivors. |
