Leo Leroy Owens, 81, of Chino Valley, Arizona, passed away on Oct. 18, 2016, in Chino Valley, Arizona. A complete obit to follow.

Roy of Chino Valley, passed away October 18, 2016 at home at 81 years old. He was born March 8, 1935 in Phoenix to Leo Heber Owens and Julia Mae Pitts. He married Betty Shaffer and moved to Yuma where they raised their three children. Roy became a construction superintendent. He was a natural craftsman and mechanic. Roy built and raced three hydro-plane race boats and built a 22’ cabin cruiser. Also re-built many VW’s. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting and camping. In later years he bow-fished, RV’d and off-roaded.

He is predeceased by his parents, wife Betty and son Jesse. He is survived by daughters Cozette Ridge (Jimmy) and Leslie Coble; siblings Margaret Davis, Dell Owens; half sister Sheryl Kenney, step brother Harry Richardson, five grandchildren and current wife Cheri Parks-Owens.

Special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice. No services are planned per Roy’s wishes.

A celebration of Roy’s life is planned for November.
