| GATES-KARR, Betty Jane Betty Jane Gates-Karr, 82, a Fountain Hills resident, passed away April 18, 2009. Betty Jane was born in Minneapolis, Minn. to Ida and Fred Gates. She worked as a switchboard operator for Western Airlines for many years before moving to Fountain Hills with her husband, Kenneth, where she took a position as a customer service representative with Fort McDowell Casino. Betty Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; brothers, Richard and Leonard Gates; sisters, Evelyn Gates and Eleanor Ring. She is survived by her sister, Frances Learn, Crystal Lake, Ill., and nephews, Chris and Monty Learn. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Arizona Humane Society.
