KARP, Robert T. "Bob"

Robert (Bob) T. Karp, 66, of Fountain Hills passed away unexpectedly April 29, 2009. He was born and raised in Chicago, Ill. A successful businessman, Bob retired to Fountain Hills in 1988 with his first love, Theresa.

In 1992, after several years of retirement and always wanting to work with his hands, Bob purchased a local tool/cutter grind shop. Joining him on his venture were his wife and youngest son, Brian. Together they worked side-by-side for the past 17 years.

Bob loved the outdoors; an avid hiker and camping enthusiast, he encouraged everyone he knew to accompany him on his daily walks or one of his many adventures. Bob often enjoyed the outdoors with his sons Steve, Tim and Brian.

Whether hiking around Fountain Hills, Four Peaks, or the Rocky Mountains, Bob constantly welcomed camaraderie on the trail, whether slowing down or speeding up, he was always there to give a hand.

Those who knew him appreciated his no-nonsense way of life. Bob was a straight shooter who loved a practical joke better than most. Although considered a tough cookie at times, he always had a soft-spot for his family, especially his grandkids: Erin, Caroline, Kassandra, Ashly, Zachary and Samantha.

Bob was a caring husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all. The impact of this loss will be felt for a long-time.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 49 years, Theresa; children, Steve (Stephanie), Tim (Elizabeth) and Brian (Christina).

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Messinger Fountain Hills Chapel, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation “in memory of Bob Karp” to the Arizona Make-a-Wish Foundation.
