Juanita Betty Jean (McDowell) Cantwell

Juanita (Nita) Cantwell, 71, went to her eternal reward Saturday, April 18, at the Flagstaff Medical Center after suffering a massive stroke. She was born in Rolla, Miss., Dec. 30, 1937, to Clyde and Cora McDowell.

When she was 9 years old, she moved with her family to Ajo. In 1960 she moved to Kearny with her husband, Leonard J. Gibbs, and her two children.

She married Charles (Chuck) Cantwell, formerly of Keany, Nov. 27, 1979, and moved to Kennewick, Wash., then to Wichita Falls, Texas, Robinson, Ill., and Phoenix before retiring to Eagar where they have lived for the past nine years.

Nita was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters Bertha Roy, Margaret Acton, Della Harris and Dorothy Mann; brother Clyde (Bud) McDowell; and stepdaughter Cheryl Dains. Juanita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Cantwell of Eagar; two children, Linda Davis of El Paso, Texas, and Dale Gibbs of Pima; three stepchildren Crystal Hollisbaugh of Preston, Idaho, Charles Cantwell of Eagle, Idaho, and Colleen Rosson of Twin Falls, Idaho; sisters Jo Newman of Tucson and Rosalie Jackson of Kearney.

She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 9, at 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God in Springerville with Pastor Dennis Weiskircher officiating and her son-in-law, Rev. Ken Davis assisting.
