Paul Edward Berg

Paul Berg of Prescott Valley, Arizona died peacefully on November 15, 2016. Mr. Berg was born in Kentucky on November 22, 1934. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Ann and parents, Daniel and Esther Berg. He is survived by his children Kay, Todd (Kari), Sam (Denise) and Joel (Jennifer); 12 grandchildren; Janelle, Emily, Ben, Miranda, Alec, Kaycie, Kendall, Jesse, Natalie, Daniel, Kobe and Asher, and sisters; Ruth Barnes and Eva Marie Loveless.

Paul was a life-long musician. A highlight of his adolescent years was performing musically with his sisters at Chicago Youth for Christ. He enjoyed his role as a choral musical director in both schools and churches. Paul was proficient at multiple instruments including trumpet and musical saw.

During his 37-year career as an educator and administrator, Mr. Berg taught social studies, history, English and vocal music in Orange County, California, Mesa, Arizona and Prescott, Arizona. Paul was an original staff member of Granite Mountain Middle School. He worked as a painter during the summer months.

Paul and Ann Berg were long-time residents of Yavapai County, having moved to Prescott in 1976. In their retirement years, Mr. and Mrs. Berg enjoyed befriending and ministering to the elderly. Paul also led Bible studies for inmates at the Yavapai County jail for a number of years. Those who knew Paul well, enjoyed his quick wit and sense of humor.

Paul’s children wish to thank Hospice of the Pines and the caregivers at New Horizons Adult Care Home in Prescott Valley for their loving and attentive care of their father.
