Mary Ann Rosehnal
July 25, 1943 - November 8, 2016

Mary Ann Rosehnal, 73, born on July 25, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York to Mary Corso and Frank Rosehnal. She passed away on November 8th, 2016.

Mary Ann was raised in Long Island Massapequa, New York and later moved with her family across the country to San Francisco where she attended and graduated from George Washington High School. She earned a Bachelors Degree of Arts in Sociology from San Francisco State University and her Master’s Degree of Arts in Education Leadership from Northern Arizona University. She worked with troubled youth at a detention center in San Francisco and later worked as an LPN in the labor and delivery room at St. Mary’s Hospital. She always maintained that welcoming new lives into the world made it the happiest place in the hospital.

Mary Ann and family moved to Circle City in 1972 where she would live until her passing. She quickly became involved in the community. She worked with the homeowners association to find funding to improve the community by paving the streets and installing curbs and lighting in Circle City. She would maintain her involvement for the rest of her life.

She initially worked at the Nadaburg school business office, and became the Morristown Elementary School Business Manager in 1976. Morristown School had two classrooms, but it would soon grow to serve over 150 children.

Mary Ann was instrumental in working with the School Facilities Board to obtain funding for the construction of a new Morristown Elementary School building, which was much needed. She worked with the Arizona Commission on the Arts to bring art experiences to the students at Morristown. She shared her passion for bringing the arts to children via her work with the Wickenburg Children’s Cultural Organization and the Wickenburg Friends of Music. She spent countless hours serving on the boards of both organizations; using her energy and expertise to write grants and see to their proper implementation.

During her 28 years as the Business Manager at Morristown School, she served as president of the Arizona Association of School Business Officials (AASBO). During her tenure, she worked with other business managers around the state to promote policy, legislation and professional practices to make Arizona Schools a fair and equitable place for all children regardless of district size, tax base or location.

Over the years Morristown School would grow and she saw it become a vibrant learning center for area children. She retired in 2005 but after a short time, she decided to seek a position on the Morristown School Board and she served in that capacity until 2016.

She is survived by her son Scott Stoddart, his wife, Sheli and their son Dominic, who was the light of her life. She cherished her long friendships with people on the east and west coast as well as those close by including the Gill family of Wickenburg. Her friendships were priceless to her and she held those relationships dear to heart. Your friendship is a special gift, generously given, happily accepted, and deeply appreciated!

Her passion for children was her guiding light throughout her life, and through this passion she made the world a better place! She’ll be truly missed!

She is proceeded in her death by her parents, Mary and Frank Rosehnal, and Uncle Bill Rutgers.
